Simplistic, safe, and intuitive are three key themes we kept in mind when updating and redesigning this faculty property. The Stanford West Apartments began with 500 signs over the amount needed throughout the property. The WeidnerCA team determined this number by conducting a comprehensive site study before we began designing and going into fabrication.

Since this property wasn’t brand new, we redesigned the signage program to simplify and modernize the wayfinding. By doing this, we also created a safer navigation throughout the property by adding lighting that pooled onto the ground where residents walked. These lights were designed to include numerals to determine which building they were in front of. The advancements of this property created a safe, intuitive, and comfortable space that faculty members would call home.
